American Families for Vaccines Action Fund
Statement of Independence
American Families for Vaccines (AFV), a 501c3 non-profit, and American Families for Vaccines Action Fund (AFVAF), a 501c4 non-profit, are independent organizations that educate and advocate for strong vaccine policy in the United States. AFV/AFVAF are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all our activities, including the pursuit and utilization of grant funding. We affirm that our organizations operate independently, free from undue influence or interference from any external entities, including current and potential funders.
As non-profit organizations dedicated to vaccine education and advocacy, we prioritize the needs and interests of our beneficiaries and the communities we serve above all else. Our decisions and actions are guided by our mission and values. We maintain autonomy in determining our strategic priorities, programmatic activities, and organizational governance.
Like most non-profit organizations, AFV/AFVAF approach the private sector for funding, and companies and industry associations may sponsor AFV/AFVAF initiatives.
We understand the importance of maintaining independence to ensure the integrity of our work and the trust of our stakeholders, including donors, partners, volunteers, and the public. Therefore, we affirm that:
We do not allow any external entity, including grantors, to dictate or influence our organizational policies, programmatic priorities, or operational decisions in a manner that conflicts with our mission and values.
We exercise discretion and judgment in selecting and implementing programs, projects, and initiatives based on their alignment with our mission, the needs of our beneficiaries, and the best available evidence and expertise.
We maintain transparency in our financial practices, reporting, and use of grant funds, adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
We are committed to open communication and collaboration with our grantors, providing regular updates, reports, and evaluations of grant-funded activities while upholding the integrity and independence of our programmatic and operational decisions.
Funding is accepted by AFV/AFVAF only for activities that are consistent with the organization’s mission and vision. AFV/AFVAF will not have relationships with sponsors whose principles, policies, or conduct conflict with our values. Acceptance of corporate funds does not imply AFV/AFVAF’s endorsement of a grantor’s products, services, programs, or activities.
