Who We Are. American Families for Vaccines (AFV) defends the science, laws, and people that keep our communities healthy. We mobilize the pro-vaccine majority to advocate for science-based public health laws, promote accurate information, and support vaccine confidence and access in legislatures, courts, and communities nationwide. We launch and support state-based Families for Vaccines chapters, empowering local advocates to lead the charge for stronger immunization laws. The Pro-Vaccine Legal Alliance (PVLA), is a project of American Families for Vaccines and affiliated organizations.
We (collectively “AFV,” “AFV Action Fund,” “State Chapters,” “PVLA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information of our supporters, partners, clients, and visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information obtained through our websites, communications, events, litigation partnerships, and other activities. Information we collect may be used for advocacy and public-policy activities in compliance with applicable nonprofit, tax, and election laws, including restrictions on coordination and use of funds where applicable.

Information We May Collect. We may collect information in the following categories:
Contact Information. Name, email address, mailing address, phone number, employer, professional title, and organizational affiliation.
Demographic and Advocacy Information. Legislative district, areas of interest, public-health advocacy preferences, event participation history, and other voluntary information you provide.
Website and Usage Information. IP address, browser type, pages visited, forms submitted, RSVPs, petition signatures, and engagement with calls to action.
Donation Information. Donation amounts, payment details, and transaction history (processed through secure third-party payment processors).
Applicant or Volunteer Information. If you apply for employment, volunteer roles, expert sign-on letters, or litigation participation, we may collect:

Litigation and Policy Collaboration Information. When working on amicus briefs, litigation strategy, or policy projects, we may collect information from attorneys, experts, organizations, and collaborators, including professional contact details, affiliations, and publicly available publications.
User-Submitted Content. Comments(including sign-on letters, petitions, etc.) may be used for advocacy, legal filings, or communications consistent with this policy. When you participate in petitions, comments, forums, or advocacy actions organized by us, your name, likeness, or information may be public. Information submitted through petitions, sign-on letters, public comments, or advocacy actions may be published or shared publicly in connection with AFV’s advocacy or legal work. By submitting information in connection with petitions, sign-on letters, or advocacy actions, you acknowledge that such information may be publicly disclosed, including in court filings, legislative materials, or media communications.
We treat such information consistent with professional confidentiality obligations.
Photography, Video, and Media. We may photograph, record video, or capture audio at events, meetings, or advocacy activities. These materials may be used for communications, advocacy, educational purposes, fundraising, or legal and policy work. By attending AFV events or participating in our activities, you acknowledge that your image, likeness, voice, or statements may be captured and used consistent with this Privacy Policy. Where required by law or appropriate based on the context (including for minors or sensitive settings), we will seek additional consent before using identifiable images. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please notify us at the event or contact us in advance, and we will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
How We Use Your Information. We use information to:

We will not sell personal information or use it to train AI. We rely on information you provide and are not responsible for inaccuracies in user-submitted data.
Information We May Share. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers. Vendors who help operate our website, email system, donation processing, SMS messaging, or data storage, subject to confidentiality agreements.
Legal and Advocacy Partners. When necessary to coordinate litigation or policy work, we may share professional contact information with co-counsel, law firms, academic collaborators, medical societies, or public-health partners. We generally limit such collection to professional or publicly available information unless additional information is voluntarily provided.

Organizational Transitions. If AFV merges or transfers assets, information may transfer subject to this policy.
De-Identified Data. Aggregated or anonymized information may be used for research or reporting. We never share donor or supporter lists for commercial marketing.
SMS / Text Messaging Policy. PVLA may send text messages only to individuals who have affirmatively opted in. No mobile information will be shared for marketing purposes. You may opt out anytime by replying STOP. Message frequency varies and message/data rates may apply. We comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and applicable state texting laws, important given your committee texting work for caucus outreach. We do not text individuals without prior consent except where permitted by law.
Cookies and Tracking. Our websites may use cookies or analytics tools to understand site usage. You may disable cookies in your browser settings. We do not use tracking technologies for commercial advertising.
Data Security. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including:
