Vaccine Policy Atlas
The Vaccine Policy Atlas, developed by American Families for Vaccines (AFV) with the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, is a first-of-its-kind policy resource that maps how state vaccine laws interact with federal immunization recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Vaccine Policy Atlas translates complex statutory language into clear, actionable policy intelligence by:
Mapping where state statutes reference ACIP
Identifying how ACIP recommendations are incorporated into vaccine requirements or funding mechanisms
Highlighting how changes or delays in federal advisory processes could affect state implementation
Identifying potential legislative or regulatory pathways to ensure continuity and stability
At a time when federal vaccine infrastructure feels uncertain, the Atlas empowers state leaders to understand their legal framework and evaluate whether additional clarity or reinforcement is needed to preserve access to vaccines.
